Saveanallien started out as a facebook application in 2007 but has since created its own website. Activity is based around the scenario that a meteor has hit a planet, scattering 10 million aliens into space; all floating aimlessly and helplessly….unless humankind can save them.

The idea is novel but the idea of looking after a pet is not. We can’t help but feel there should be more activities available for adopted aliens. We did however, like the photo creator feature and enjoyed looking at those published online.

You are encouraged to adopt an alien as a virtual pet and once you have done this the social networking element of the site kicks in. Adopters can play social games with each other, interact with friends, take care of their alien by feeding, clothing and petting them and even take a photo with their little adopted buddies.

Aliens can have profiles created for them and stories about them can be uploaded within these. There is a way to earn points by helping others, for example by feeding hungry aliens.

Saveanalien.com has grown into a community of alien-friendly people who are able to communicate through the site.
