Club Penguin is designed for 6-14 years olds. The site has a strong commitment to safety and is an ad-free zone.

Due to the live-time in-game chat, the site uses chat-filters and real-time moderation to keep things clean and pleasant. Those straying from the chat policy are barred from the site. For those parents who are still a little nervous, there is an ‘ultimate safe chat’ function whereby players can simply select comments from a menu, as opposed to having total freedom of speech. For a kids social networking site with this much live-time interaction, Club Penguin has gone out of its way to ensure player safety. A very well made kids social networking site.

Players have to undertake games and challenges, climbing levels and collecting items along the way. Inter-player chat is all part of the fun and players have the ability to help each other by providing items other players need. Club Penguin is mainly for fun but does encourage player interaction and inter-player support. In addition, all that typing can’t do them any harm.

Whilst nothing individually is particularly original, the combination of the features available on Club Penguin, for the age group being targeted is original, which is evident by its colossal popularity amongst players.

Many kids arrange to meet their school friends in certain locations on the site or agree times to meet online friends from around the globe. The social aspects of the game, alongside the challenges and climbing levels, make Club Penguin fantastic (and addictive) fun.
