With 40 years of programming across 140 countries, Sesame is one of the big guns in kids educational entertainment.  But successful programming doesn’t necessarily lead to a great web presence.  DozenKids.com decided to check out their online fun educational website to see if it cut the mustard.

Lots of Fun and Games at sesamestreet.org

The site is split into games, videos, playlists and Muppets.  It also includes a parent’s area with lots of information on developmental milestones.

In terms of educational activities there are games, songs and interactive learning exercises.

It has a lovely feature whereby you can create your own playlist; this involves selecting your favorite Sesame Street character, choosing a subject (such as science, culture, and thinking skills) and then selecting the type of activity you are looking for (videos, games).  Once you have completed this simple process you are rewarded with an activity completely tailored to your needs.

There is also to feature to create your own Sesame Street webpage, ‘My Street’, where favorite videos and educational games can be stored for ease of replay.

The activities are all mapped across to the developmental milestones of the target group and are fun but educational.

Why is this site different to other E-learning sites? This grades the originality of the site and how it encourages children's creativity..
Sesame Street is a very creating e-learning resource.  The learning is very well wrapped up within fun activities so kids will enjoy using this site whilst at the same time honing their skills, knowledge and understanding.

How good are the site graphics? This grades the quality of the CGI graphics and animation of the games feature on the site..
Lovely, large, colorful graphics with big, easy to read text and tasteful color scheme.  The site used graphics to make the site attractive and fun-looking, as well as for ease of navigation.  All very subtle and as ‘in your face’ as other kids sites.

OK, how fun is this site? Are there games on offer? Does it engage children's imagination? Run stupid competitions? We gave extra points for fun and activities..
Most kids love the madcap humor of The Muppets and although activities are based on learning they are all great fun.

The site only has a few adverts by sponsors and these are not intrusive and are all appropriate for a kids websites.  The site does not have external links and you can rest assured that your kids will not wind up on a dodgy site if left to play here.
